Plan Your Visit

Housed in the oldest building in historic Downtown Waxahachie built in 1889, the Ellis County Museum shares the stories of Ellis County and it’s residents through visual and interactive displays with over 130 years of history!

Historic Exhibits

Exhibits in the Ellis County Museum have been carefully curated to reminisce on our rich history and to inspire current generations. From legacies of mammoths to the buffalo that roamed our Blackland Prairies, to the founding of Ellis County and the cornerstones of agriculture and industry that built our community, there’s something for everyone and every age!

Upcoming Events

From educational events to social gatherings, we believe in bringing the past to life for our community through opportunities across Ellis County. Fall in love with history with us!
